Kaushik (b. 1977) is a medical graduate from University of Calcutta and worked several years in the corporate healthcare sector of India. In 2011, he left his job to pursue his career in Photography. During his graduation days and also during his employment in the healthcare sector, Kaushik perceived that Indian doctors are not very keen for visual documentation / archiving of medical and surgical procedures. With enormous support from Dr. Anjonn Dasgupta, one of the reputed surgeon of Kolkata, he started his endeavor to archive medical & surgical procedures. Being a medical graduate-cum-visual artist, Kaushik believes that visual documentation of these procedures not only help the medical students immensely, but also will help the entire medical fraternity, medical institutions in various other aspects like medico-legal cases etc.

The small, cold operating room gives a sense of thrill to Kaushik; he calls it "Battle of Blue Zone". In one hand, you need to know the procedure to time your shutter release in perfect moment and on other hand, you are not allowed to distract the surgical team. As per Kaushik, a medical photographer must have all the sense that makes a war photographer.

During last couple of years, Kaushik documented some aesthetically crafted critical surgeries by some skilled surgeons of the country. He is currently trying to develop an online visual archive (still & audio-visual) of several medical procedures for medical students, doctors and common people.
